New to Guns

Responsible Firearm Owners in Las Vegas, Nevada is dedicated to the responsibility and accountability that we each assume once we make the decision to own a firearm, and bring that firearm into our home and community. RFO offers ongoing firearms training classes in Las Vegas NV for both adults and children.

RFO's New to Guns program was developed due to various and similar conversations that were had with a number of young adults, and women in particular. Each conversation rang familiar with the same claims;

There is a firearm in the home, and each person wasn't comfortable with the firearm itself, or their confidence in the handling of the firearm. Every time their significant other, or someone close to them attempted to "teach" them how to properly handle, and/or fire the firearm, it ended in an argument and an even greater reluctance for the firearm, creating more fear toward the time that may come for them to have to move, or worse, use the firearm.

In answer to this seemingly common opinion and feeling, RFO's New to Guns program has been developed for the person who is interested in becoming more familiar with a firearm without the "fear" of "making someone mad", or "doing something wrong".

Overview

Under the guidance of a firearm instructor, and in a place to facilitate, as well as promote the communication regarding learning and listening, RFO offers this class in two parts;

Part I

Each person will be provided the opportunity to be exposed to various firearms, their function and operation, safety rules, and proper handling and storage of a firearm. This class is a hands-on class with unloaded firearms, and may be attended as many times as it takes for the participant to become comfortable with firearms.

Part II

Each person that chooses to go further with their firearm learning experience, from RFO's New to Guns; Part I class, may attend a range day which will include a follow-up and review of the Part I class, as well as the participants review of firearm safety, and being introduced to basic marksmanship skills, along with a basic course of fire that is a "no pressure" opportunity to experience the sound and feel of handling a loaded firearm without the worry of being unmercifully scrutinized for every movement made. This class is controlled for safety, and limited in participants. Attendees must pre-register at the end of the Part I class to ensure a space.

*RFO provides all training firearms, and range firearms including ammunition, targets and eye & ear protection.

Participants may bring their own firearm to the class, but must be approved by RFO staff prior to the date of class, and must be physically inspected by RFO staff prior to bringing the firearm into the classroom.

No ammunition is allowed.

Participants may wear sunglasses, or prescription eye glasses in place of RFO eye protection, but must sign a waiver to do so.
