Range Etiquette
Adherence to all RFO Range Rules and policies is mandatory for everybody's safety. Violation of any rule or policy, as determined by range staff, may result in loss of range privileges and escort from the premises.
Range Master is in direct control of the range
Range Officer assists the Range Master in the safe operation of the range
Range Staff are assistants to the Range Master and Range Officer(s)
Range Rules
- Eye (impact resistant recommended) and ear protection is mandatory at all times on the range
- All firearms must be unloaded and cased at all times while outside of the assigned shooting area (or holstered and concealed with a valid Concealed Firearm Permit)
- Firearms are to be unloaded until the Range Master/Instructors command
- No Target material is to be mounted or placed anywhere on the range except in the designated target areas
- No rapid firing unless part of the training curriculum
- No head shots unless part of the training curriculum
- No drawing from your holster, and no rapid magazine changes unless part of the training curriculum
- Un-aimed or uncontrolled fire is strictly prohibited. Shooting at non-target objects is strictly prohibited. Cross-lane firing is not permitted.
- If a firearm malfunctions, immediately stop, indicate there is a problem by appropriately signaling Range Staff as demonstrated prior to commencing course of fire
- No one is allowed beyond the firing line until Range Staff has cleared the line
- Shooters may switch lanes to try another firearm, but firearms may not be carried to another lane, unless part of the training curriculum, and under the instruction of the Range Master/Instructor/Range Officer
- Firearms must be pointed downrange at all times (unloaded/loaded), no higher than the target, unless holstered
- In the case of a Cease Fire, stop immediately and wait for Range Staff commands. Anyone may call a cease-fire for any safety violation
- Only standard factory, or *re-loads are permitted
- A parent, or guardian with written permission from the parent, must accompany persons under 21 years of age who are shooting a handgun or persons under 18 years of age who are shooting a rifle or shotgun. The parent or guardian must directly supervise the minor person at all times
- No food, drink, smoking or chewing tobacco is allowed on the range
- Pick up all brass and deposit in designated area after shooting
- Trash bags will be issued and everyone is expected to police-up any debris, leaving the range in better condition than when arrived
- Alcohol and drugs are prohibited. Anyone believed to be under the influence will be refused use of range
- Any person causing any damages to the range equipment, will be held financially responsible for the repairs and/or replacement
- Any violation, damage etc. is to be reported to Range Staff immediately
- Necessary equipment only on the range. All personal items are the responsibility of the owner
*Understanding that the cost of ammunition is high, RFO will allow the use of re-loads on the range. Each person who chooses to use re-loaded ammunition assumes their own risk of injury or death, and holds harmless Responsible Firearm Owners, it's staff and affiliates.
All range participants will be required to complete and sign a waiver prior to being allowed to participate in any RFO live fire range training.
If you are currently under indictment for or have ever been convicted of a crime which would prohibit you from owning or purchasing or possessing a firearm, or if you have ever been adjudicated as mentally defective or been committed to a mental institution, you may not shoot on our range.
Responsible Firearm Owners reserves the right to refuse service and/or use of the range to any person for any reason at any time.
